Discover the symbol of Central Vietnam Arabica: Terroir, flavor, and potential
Khe Sanh is located in the mountainous district of Huong Hoa, Quang Tri province, and has long been known as one of Vietnam's important Arabica coffee raw material regions, alongside Dien Bien, Son La, and Cau Dat (Lam Dong).
Situated along the Ho Chi Minh trail and bordering Laos, this land has a history of coffee cultivation dating back to the French colonial era. Today, Khe Sanh not only contributes to national coffee production but is also strongly shifting towards Specialty Coffee production.

With a common altitude of 350m to 500m above sea level, Huong Hoa's topography is complexly dissected with many rolling hills and mountains creating a distinct microclimate. The steep slopes present a farming challenge but provide excellent drainage for coffee roots.
The tropical monsoon climate combined with the influence of the Southwest Foehn wind (Lao wind) creates significant dry heat disparity during the dry season. Conversely, the final months of the year often feature early moist fog and distinct day/night temperature variations. This mild 'heat stress' process encourages the coffee plant to better convert sugar into the bean.
Cracked red basalt soil mixed with feralite soil developed on quartz sedimentary rock provides a large complex mineral source. This is the core element nourishing healthy Arabica plants.
The dominant variety cultivated in Khe Sanh is Catimor (a cross between Caturra and Hybrido de Timor) due to its excellent coffee leaf rust resistance characteristics and high yield. Recently, many farmers have experimented with planting high-quality pure varieties such as THA1, THA2 to elevate the flavor profile.
The smooth, un-harsh citric acidity of Khe Sanh comes from the organic structure in the basalt soil mixed with the temperamental mountain fog. The herbal and spicy notes may be partly influenced by the harsh microclimate itself and the Foehn wind carrying distinct regional humidity.

A linked network comprising Van Kieu ethnic farmers, centralized primary processing Cooperatives, and specialty roasters is creating a new sustainable value chain for Quang Tri coffee.
Geographical Indication (GI) is not just a legal shield but also a pact committing to quality with global consumers. It reflects an immutable principle in agriculture: **'The Terroir Link'**.
