Vietnam continues to consolidate its position as a coffee export powerhouse, especially for Robusta coffee, playing a core role in the global supply chain. With stable production and increasing quality, Vietnamese coffee beans are now present in more than 80 countries and territories.

Vietnam's coffee export value continuously sets new records. The past year witnessed the highest export turnover in history, largely thanks to the breakthrough of Robusta prices on London exchanges and supply scarcity from competitors.
The European Union (EU) remains the largest customer of Vietnamese coffee, followed by the United States, Japan, and ASEAN countries.
| Market | Share (%) | Characteristics |
|---|---|---|
| EU (G-7) | 38% | High Quality & EUDR requirements |
| Hoa Kỳ | 12% | Strong instant coffee consumption |
| Nhật Bản | 8% | Emerging specialty coffee market |
The European Union (EU) has enacted the Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). This is a major challenge but also a filter that helps the coffee industry eliminate inefficient growing areas and enhance transparency.
Every shipment exported to the EU from 2025 must have GPS coordinates of the growing area and proof that it does not cause deforestation. Farmers who apply digital transformation and sustainable farming will have an absolute competitive advantage.
The coffee industry is shifting from raw export to refined export. Businesses are investing heavily in warehouse systems, roasting factories, and instant coffee production to increase surplus value.
The future of Vietnamese coffee exports lies not in quantity but in 'Traceability' and 'Sustainability'. These are two golden keys to opening high-end markets.
